The Era of Clash opens with the death of storytelling, a concept the author successfully theorised and popularised in 2007, and of the era of stories, dead from overtelling. The author unpacks this idea of clash, leading to a spiral of discredit and a war of rhetoric, which he links with an ever greater need to control uncertainty through digital technology, and especially algorithms.
